Cardiff & Vale UHB – Shaping Our Future Strategy Vision

C&VUHB’s challenge, once their strategic principles had been developed, was to identify their key priorities and shared visions for the future WITH the people who deliver and use their services. The Scarlet Design team supported them throughout the process to develop these, from the engagement workshops… to designing 8 vision maps… to creating a graphics toolkit for their final report.

Using the Home/Community/Hospital model for the workshop tablesheets and for our visual maps, the participants voices were listened to and captured. At each workshop the visual minutes were displayed, more each time, to encourage fresh thinking and cross-fertilisation.

During the process it became evident that in addition to a core ‘Shaping Our Future Well-being’ map, each priority also needed it’s own map: Cancer, Dementia, Dental and Eye, Long Term Conditions, Maternal, Mental Health and Stroke. As each priority map was developed, we overlaid case studies, patient stories and scenarios to evaluate the content to be included and the pathway text for the base area. View the 8 maps here:

The graphics toolkit provides a way to carry the visual story-telling through their on and off-line communications. The core map was reformatted for the report cover. The final 8 maps are designed to be flexible communication tools, to be used in a range of formats, e.g. displayed in public areas, in presentations and stands etc. View the report here:

“the poster development workshop was a great opportunity to do something different. The posters are very popular and we are also getting feedback on the posters which is excellent.”
