Cardiff University Collateral
Brief
Cardiff University School of Mechanical Engineering commissioned Scarlet Design to create a collateral system which would act both as a flexible recruiting tool to increase their overseas student intake, and effectively convey the quality of the research programmes and faculty.
Strategy
The school had recently achieved its goal of becoming one of the top five schools in the UK, with a fast-growing reputation for research-led teaching excellence. To reflect this achievement and to differentiate it from competitors materials, we developed a bold square format brochure, featuring dynamic stock photography. To generate excitement among prospective students we worked with the University team to shape the text and information, to convey the career opportunities offered by the school’s impressive courses.
Result
The square brochure style was praised internally, and proved so popular that other departments adopted the format, our brochure was reprinted the following year. We continue to work with the department, recently completing the logo and brochure for their latest venture, a £7.8 million research facility - GTRC.
